Chimney Sweep & Inspection
Cleaning your chimney annually is important
Since the moment humans tamed it, fire has been an important fixture in our lives. But fire can be extremely dangerous and destructive which is why it is important to have regular chimney sweeps, inspections and repairs. Even if you never use your fireplace, having your chimney inspected on a routine basis is vital as damage which requires repairs can occur even without regular fireplace use. Keeping your chimney in good condition is an important part of ensuring the integrity of your home.

How often do I need my chimney swept?
The National Fire Protection Association’s Standard 211 states, “Chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year for soundness, freedom from deposits, and correct clearances. Cleaning, maintenance, and repairs shall be done if necessary.” This is the best way to minimize the risk of a fire due to creosote buildup in your chimney.
Why do I need my chimney inspected?
The same reason you should get a physical checkup from your doctor on a regular basis: to find out if there is anything wrong, so you can address the issue before it gets any worse. Regular chimney inspections can identify problem areas early on in their development, offering you the ability to remedy them before they grow and become more expensive to fix.
Even if you never burn anything in your fireplace, your chimney may still be in need of repairs. Bats, birds, squirrels or even raccoons can create nests in your chimney. If their debris is still present when you decide to have a fire for the first time after months without use, that debris can cause real problems.
When should I get my chimney inspected?
We recommend getting your yearly inspection before the start of the burning season. This usually means late summer and early fall. However, we perform chimney sweeps, inspections and repairs year round, so give us a call no matter the time of year.
