The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and it’s a great time in Eugene to finish all of those household chores you’ve been putting off! Have you done your spring cleaning yet? Summer is fast approaching and we here at Oregon Chimney Guys are here to help you with your spring cleaning. We’ve come up with our very own annual spring cleaning checklist.

Dirty Dryer-Vent

1. Dryer Vent Cleaning

An annual dryer vent cleaning is a great way to increase the life span of your dryer and reduce the risk of a dryer fire. It will also save you money on your electric bill and time spent waiting for clothes to dry. A clogged dryer is prone to overheating and is far less efficient. If you’re unsure whether or not your dryer vent needs to be cleaned, give us a call and we can do an evaluation!

2. Chimney Sweep and Evaluation

If you’re a regular follower of this blog you will know how important it is to get an annual chimney sweep. A chimney sweep in the spring is a great way to prepare your chimney for its “hibernating” period. It’s also a good time to have us evaluate it to catch any needed chimney repairs or maintenance. Cleaning your chimney can help you avoid flu fires, huge repair bills, or a smoky, stinky house. So when winter rolls up your chimney will be ready to go!

3. Moss Removal

Moss removal can increase the life of your roof and increase your property value. Moss traps and holds moisture on your roof that can seep underneath the shingles and lift them off. Moss also clogs gutters and downspouts and produces airborne spores that spread moss all over the neighborhood. It’s important to get moss removed professionally because when moss is knocked off it can very easily take the shingles with it. Call us today to schedule your professional moss removal!

4. Creosote Removal

Now it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty- creosote removal. Creosote is a tacky, pungent smelling, corrosive and combustible substance that coats the inside of your chimneys and stove pipes. It can cause an unpleasant smell in your house and increase your risk of a flu fire. When you have Oregon Chimney Guys evaluate your chimney we’ll check to see if you have a bad creosote buildup and get it removed for you!

That does it for our spring cleaning checklist! If you have any questions or need to schedule your chimney sweep, moss and creosote removal, or dryer vent cleaning, call Eugene’s chimney professionals, the Oregon Chimney Guys!
